Smiles Count™ captures, monitors and reports on the happiness and wellbeing condition of clients in care.
Measuring Happiness is a simple and effective metric to assess a client’s personal experience. That perception of their situation drives their attitude and wellbeing condition.
Smiles Count™ surveys a client by prompting them via the Community App.
Each day, a client will be invited to rate their current level of Happiness, while they will also be regularly asked to rate their current level of Wellbeing based on a number of key factors.
With this data, care outcomes may be better evaluated to activate timely interventions and recommendations that empower caregivers to respond and help improve the client’s condition and daily quality of life.
The history of a client’s results are summarised in the Community App for the client and their family to access.
The Aged Care provider can access individual client’s history and indexed results across all their clients, via an Online Dashboard Report to enable comparative analysis for improvement and governance.
Depression is a big issue
Research tells us elderly people have a higher incidence of experiencing depression even if they are living in an aged care residence.
“Around half of residents in residential aged care facilities had symptoms of depression”
Australian Institute of Health & Welfare, 2013
Data Learning opportunity
Data integration is an industry-wide challenge, with a significant opportunity to collect well-being data and integrate this with clinical and other data for more complete insight into a consumers condition that can lead to improved care.
“A key challenge driving digital health is that this data does not follow us through the system – meaning that consumers and clinicians operate with limited views of an individual’s complete health picture.”
Dr Ben Hachey, Head of Data Science Innovation, Digital Health Cooperative Research Centre (Australia), 2019
